MOU Prepared For A VSAT MPLS Network Rollout in Asia-Pacific

June 2007

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been drafted and agreed to for a region-wide rollout of VSAT-MPLS Services in Asia Pacific. The MOU is between Coral Wireless and Video (CWV) Philippines and an Asian Partner who is also a Fleet Operator of state of the art VSAT systems. The project is also a collaboration which will involve Global Wireless Solutions and Technology (GWST) and Global Fusion (www.globalfusion-inc.com), both of the USA. The first phase of the project includes the deployment of 35 regional VSAT-MPLS networks which will cover 20 million potential clients.

This roll-out is part of an initial network integration and implementation where infrastructure build-up has been ongoing since the year 2002. The cooperation of major Asian Telcos with worldwide data connectivity has enabled this project to succeed. Project funding is privately secured and ongoing rollout is approved at a cost of USD400Million.

This project which is implemented by GWST follows a Build-Operate-Train-and-Transfer (BOTT) model and is expected to generate many jobs in this Region. Government support will also help advance the project rapidly. The stakeholders have been working together for 8 years primarily implementing telecoms infrastructure for the rural areas and in third world countries.

John Elliott, GWST CEO states: "I was tired of the negative press reports which claims that providing the latest broadband services for the rural areas is not feasible. We have successfully been implementing this kind of telecommunications solution since 1997 and all networks are still successfully running."
